Branded Cold Chain Packaging Launch for Hook'd

One of the best parts of our job at Dairi-Pak is helping our customers realise their vision.  We recently helped premium seafood suppliers, Shield Foods, launch their new B2C venture, Hook’d.

Hook’d was a long-term vision of the founding brothers, but the pandemic hastened the need for Shield to be able to deliver their quality seafood direct to the end consumer.

As three brothers growing up amid this family business, we were blessed to try the world’s finest seafood. From succulent wild black tiger prawns to exquisite black cod, to the sweet, rich flavours of sashimi yellowtail, we sampled it all.

 

 

As time passed, we realised we were in a unique situation.

 

 

For too long, we witnessed household seafood options narrowed to a handful of choices, with luxury items confined to restaurant kitchens. We wanted families across the UK to experience the wide range of global seafood we’d been lucky enough to enjoy. So, we made it happen.

 

 

We created Hook’d to fill the void the UK food market desperately needed — delivering a wide variety of quality seafood, trusted by London’s leading restaurants, to homes across the British Isles. We passionately believe that quality, responsibly sourced seafood should be accessible to all. Hook’d is turning that vision into a reality with the help of Dairi-Pak and the cold chain shipping outers they produced for us.  We can’t wait to share our experience with our customers.

The team at Hook’d had a strong vision for the brand.  One of our talented design team, Claire, worked closely with their designers and marketing team, along with the team at our reprographics house to edit the original design to ensure it was print ready and would achieve a striking result.

The box style protects the product whilst in transit and also creates an opportunity for a layered unboxing experience, with brand reinforcement and messaging at each stage of the opening process.

Print on both faces of the strong corrugated cardboard created the opportunity to add extra value to the customer experience.

Corrugated as an outer shipping solution fits well with the sustainable sourcing policy at Hook’d with the boxes being made from approx. 70% recycled materials and being 100% curb side recyclable.

Even the inks are sustainably sourced using all natural and sustainable ingredients.

We appreciate the first jump from plain packaging to branded packaging can be a scary proposition.  We’ve recently invested in a small format digital printer to allow us to help with this first step with a reduced commitment.  It means we can potentially avoid all tooling and printing plate set up costs and supply a very low volume to keep the total investment (and space the packaging would take up) to a minimum.  This allows you to test, trial, monitor and change (if required) to make sure your branded packaging is 100% right for your business before pushing the button on larger print runs.
