What is pack personalisation?
The most well-known example of pack personalisation is the “Share a Coke with…” campaign where Coca-Cola manufactured Coke bottles printed with thousands of different names. The campaign was a runaway success as customers clamoured to get their hands on bottles with names of friends and family. The excitement of seeing your name on something elicited happiness, connected you with the product and generated repeat custom.
It’s all about making the pack more attractive and appealing to your customers. Personalised packs can target events, seasons, celebrations (did someone mention Christmas?), holidays, life stages, anything at all in fact. Your imagination is the limiting factor.
Why should I personalise my packaging?
If customer retention, loyalty, and satisfaction are important to you, that’s three good reasons. Personalised packaging has the ability to raise levels of all three elements, if it is done properly.
Studies have shown that between two thirds and three quarters of packaging professionals are either currently working on or considering personalisation projects. Doing something just because everyone else is, isn’t a good reason, but you don’t want to be left behind when your customers are getting all the press coverage (and the sales!) due to their engaging packaging.
For example, if you send out monthly subscriptions boxes then just think how creative you could be by building a story each month or making an element of the packaging combine with an element to build a toy or display for your product, which will then be retained by your customer.
